REVIEW OF THE 2026 BEAUMARIS TOWN BOWLING CLUB SEASON
At the Beaumaris Bowling Clubs Annual General Meeting, held at the Bulkeley Arms Hotel, in January 2026, all looked bleak for the future of the Club. As with with the Winter Storms causing extensive damage to the Happy Valley Pavilion roof and the Mens Toilets being in a state of disrepair, the Club looked as if it would have to fold or at the worst, play all their matches on away greens.
But to be fair to him, Councillor Alwyn Rowlands, via his negotiations with our Club Chairman Alan Caughter, was as good as his word at the AGM, in giving his personal assurance, that the Pavilion would be fit for purpose by Easter. And so it was, with the roof and Men's Toilets repaired, the 2026 season commenced on time in April. It was sad however, that Sam, the 2025 Cafe Pavilion tenant felt she, for her own private reasons, that she needed to relinquish the tenancy of the Cafe in 2026. She and her staff were sorely missed by the Bowling Club members and her dozens of friends within the Beaumaris Community
The Beaumaris Bowling Club went on to field six teams in five different Leagues, with varying successes, finishing in the top 6 places with five of the teams they fielded.
There were League and Cup successes and numerous individual player successes as well, making it a season to remember
The bowling club are hoping to possibly field two additional teams in the Gwynedd Veterans League and the Monday Night League in 2027, so if anyone is interested in playing for the Club, when the 2027 season starts at Easter time, please contact me via the information below.
My thanks, as the Club Secretary must go to:
Alan Caughter - Peter Evison and Keith Bailey in relation to the liason work they have and are still doing with the Beaumaris Town Council, to draw up a new Agreement with them and to further the Clubs hopes that plans for a new Pavilion at Happy Valley will meet fruition in the near future.
To Barry Ward our Greenkeeper, who has kept the bowling green in pristine condition throughout the season, even after suffering from a serious health condition earlier in the year.
And with the Beaumaris Town Bowling Club being totally self financing, they were very indebted to:
Barry Ward for generating funding donations from many of the Towns businesses earlier in the year.
To Tim Williams for the hard work he has done throughout the year with his Fund Raising efforts for the Club, via the Clubs Monthly Bonus Ball Draw and Match Day Raffles
To the six Captains - Adam Harris - Barry Harris - Geraint Owen - Tim Williams - Barry Ward and Fiona Williams, for ensuring we kept our commitments to field full teams in every league we played in
To all the players who played for the teams and built up a great spirt of commeraderie with each other throughout the season
To our Club Treasurer Keith Bailey for dealing with the Clubs finances so expertly.
And finally to one of the Club's newest members Fiona Williams, who has been a welcome breath of fresh air since she joined the Club in 2025
Fondly now dubbed the "Boss Lady" Fiona through her own efforts, managed to secure the Club generous donations from the Great Strait Raft Run Committee and a substantial Grant from Sport Wales to purchase much needed Machinery and Bowling equipment.
She has also via her working commitments encouraged more ladies to take up the game and also to host taster sessions at Happy Valley for Disabled Groups.
And currently she is working on plans to develop a Beaumaris Junior Bowling Academi in 2027.
So yes all now looks rosey again for the Beaumaris Bowling Clubs future in 2027 and beyond, so why not come down and join us in April 2027.
