AGENDA:

1 - CHAIRMAN'S OPENING REMARKS AND WELCOME:

In the absence of the Chairman (Mike Ormond), it was agreed that the Deputy Chairman (Alan Caughter), conducted the meeting.

Mr Caughter welcomed everyone and thanked them for attending the meeting. He felt that Beaumaris had had another successful season in 2023 and hoped 2024 would be similar. He personally thanked David Mathias for the work he had done, both as Secretary and Assistant Treasurer of the Club in 2023.

2 - APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE:

The names of Gwyn Thomas, Derek Stanley (Life Member), Robin Davies (Life Member), Daniel Owen, Matty Owen, Olga Evison, David Graves, Bobby Williams, Andrew Stanley and Mike Ormond (Chairman and Life Member), were listed and recorded.

3 - CONDOLENCES:

The name of Mick Coleman was recorded and as per expected practice the members stood for a Minutes Silence, in his memory.

4 - MINUTES OF THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING AND PRE SEASON MEETING HELD ON THE 24TH FEBRUARY 2023.

These were proposed by Barry Harris and seconded by Arfon Jones as a true and correct record and agreed unanimously by all present.

5 - MATTERS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES:

The Secretary brought up the following:

- That Brian Begley had been confirmed as a Life Member.

- That he had not as yet sourced a Brass Bell in memory of the late Ken Thomas. 

On this point Keith Bailey, stated he would source a bell, whereupon the Club, would arrange a suitable inscription and find a place to erect it at the Clubhouse 

He thanked Leighton Jones and Darren Owen for putting in place the new ditch planking before the start of the 2023 season.

He thanked Tim Williams for the hard work he'd put in organising last year's Bingo Night at the Bulkeley Arms in Menai Bridge on the 13th April 2023. He also thanked everyone who had provided prizes and had attended on the night in support.

There were no other Matters Arising from the Minutes.

6 - HON SECRETARY REPORT:

The Secretary confirmed that his report on the 2023 season was now listed on the Beaumaris Bowling Club website, for all to read.

He however added his thanks to:

- Tim Williams for all the IT and Facebook work he did for the Club

- Mike Ormond for ordering all the seed, Fertiliser and Weedkiller when needed.

Barry Ward, for taking on the work of Greenkeeper and by so doing transforming the bowling green from what it had been in the Summer of 2023.

All the Team Captains for the work they'd done throughout last season.

7 - HON TREASURER REPORT:

The Assistant Treasurer had previously handed out Balance Sheets for period ending:

30th September 2023 - £5139.97 cr

8th March 2024 - £4060.50 cr

He stressed that the Club should not rest on its laurels and continue to look to raise money via:

Donations
Saturday Match Day Stop the Bus Income
The 2024 Bingo Night
Tea Refreshment Income
Grant Applications via the Town Council.

There were no questions raised on the two listed Balance of Accounts.

8 - APPROVAL OF THE BALANCE SHEET.

Barry Ward proposed and Martin Davidson seconded that the Balance of Accounts dated the 30th September 2023 be accepted. This was agreed unanimously by all present.

9 - APPROVAL OF SUBSCRIPTIONS 2024.

The Assistant Treasurer proposed the following:

FULL MEMBER  - £40.00
COUNTRY MEMBER  - £25.00
JUNIOR MEMBER  - £25.00
SOCIAL MEMBER - £35.00

After some discussion the new fees for 2024 were agreed unanimously by all present.

10 - HONORARIA:

Currently  - £100 paid to the Secretary  - Deputy Treasurer, who was then requested to leave the room.

On his return the Deputy Chairman confirmed that the HONORARIA had been raised to £150.00.

The Secretary  - Deputy Treasurer thanked all present for their generosity.

11 - CAPTAINS REPORTS.

The Secretary confirmed that his Report included information on the performances of all the Teams in the 2023 season. So no further action was required, although Geraint Owen, thanked all the players who had played under him in 2023.

The Secretary then mentioned the Super League and hoped that now the Happy Valley Bowling Green was back in good order, that they would return from Benllech to play there this year. All Super League players present were in agreement that all Super League and Arthur Land Cup matches should be played in Beaumaris in 2024.

12 - TWO TEAMS IN BOTH THE COAST LEAGUE AND VETERANS LEAGUES IN 2024.

The Secretary had produced sheets showing the availability of players in 2024 for both Leagues.

After an open and frank discussion, it became quite clear that the Club didn't have enough available players to field two teams in both Leagues.

The Deputy Chairman then took a vote as follows:

COAST LEAGUE  - one team only in 2024:

11 for the motion - 2 abstentions 

VETERANS LEAGUE  - one team only in 2024

11 for the motion - 2 abstentions.

The Deputy Chairman then confirmed that in 2024, the Beaumaris Bowling Club would only be fielding ONE team in both the North Wales Coast League and the Gwynedd Veterans League.

13 - ELECTION OF OFFICIALS AND CAPTAINS 2024.

The following were elected:

14 - NOTICE OF MOTIONS:

The Secretary confirmed that there were none.

15 - REPORTS ON AFFILIATED LEAGUES

COAST LEAGUE - 40 teams (now 39 less Beaumaris B)

SUPER LEAGUE  - 8 teams 

Bethesda coming in

VETERANS LEAGUE 

24 teams  Division 1 and 2 - 12 teams each

Peibio coming in to replace Beaumaris B

ANGLESEY AND BANGOR and DISTRICT 

Monday  - 10 teams 
Wednesday  - 11 teams

Notice of Motion from Bangor and Criccieth to make Wednesday Night League Doubles again.

The A and B team decided to support this Notice of Motion.

16 - 2024 BINGO NIGHT 

Tim confirmed that this will be at the Bulkeley Arms, in Menai Bridge on the 2nd May 2024. He encouraged all members to provide prizes, sell cloakroom tickets and support the event on the night.

17 - REPORT ON THE BOWLING GREEN 

Barry Ward stated that he would look to have the green open and playable for Easter Good Friday.

As he also had a few other issues, the Secretary agreed to convene the Greens Sub Committee  (Alan Caughter  - Mike Ormond and Barry Harris) to discuss these within the next two weeks.

18 - ANY OTHER BUSINESS 

As Councillor D T Evans was present, he was asked to follow up on the following:

The new agreement between the Town Council and the Bowling Club, which the Club were yet to have sight of.

Provision for the Bowling Club to have Green Bins to remove grass cuttings off the Bowling Green.

Clarification as of why the Town Council's decision to donate £1000.00 to the Bowling Club had subsequently rescinded.

As there was no other business, the Deputy Chairman thanked everyone for attending and closed the meeting at 9.30pm.
