Can I firstly say that 2025, was the first time, since I joined the club in 1984, that sadly, due to my mobility problems, I never played a match on the Happy Valley Bowling Green. And three other past stalwarts for the Club - Robin Davies - Mike Ormond and Brian Begley (only occasionally)were greatly missed on the bowling green as well. Not forgetting, of course, Bobby Williams, who whilst suffering from his own serious health problems, has continually supported the team via Social Media, this last season.
I must start my report by expressing the Club's deepest sympathies to the Stanley Family, after the sad passing of their Father (Derek) on the 24th September 2025, peacefully at his home in Iscoed. Derek was a Life Member and a former Treasurer of the Club. And of course, since joining the Club in the early 80"s, played for Beaumaris in every league we played in, as well as playing for the Mon Menai and Gwynedd Veterans County teams. He will be sorely missed by us all. RIP Derek x
But anyway, let's continue my report on a more positive note, by extending the Clubs special thanks to our Greenkeeper, Barry Ward, for providing us with a terrific bowling surface to play on in 2025. His hours of dedication, in not only cutting the green, but also verti - cutting and fertilising it, really made it a pleasure to play on for the players this season.
Thanks must also go to the other Club Members who helped Barry, especially Tim Williams, Barry Harris, Andy Roberts, Keith Bailey, Peter Evison, Charlie Brimecombe Richard Pritchard and Keith Hughes from the Menai Bridge Cricket Club.
For information, the mower was, in early September, sent to a Dennis Mower Specialist in Penygroes, who has given it an extensive service and repair overhaul, which should benefit the Club in 2026 and beyond.
TEAM REVIEW OF THE 2025 SEASON.
MONDAY NIGHT LEAGUE.
CAPTAIN - Geraint Owen.
The team finished in 7th position on 80 points.
Played 18 - winning 6 - losing 12.
Best Singles Player for both for the Club and in the League was Dan Owen
Played 18 - winning 16 - losing 2 with a combined aggregate of +159.
Dan sealing his Title Winning Win, on the last match of the season against John "Postie" Evans, at the Llanfair BC - 21/14
The best Pairs Player being Simon Williams - played 13 - winning 7 - losing 6.
The MONDAY NIGHT WHITWORTH CUP
Sadly the team lost to Benllech 6/2 in the first round.
THE MONDAY NIGHT TONY HUGHES CUP
After beating Holyhead and Criccieth, the team, sadly lost to the Academi Llanfair team at Holyhead in the Final 7/1.
I am sure Geraint would join with me in welcoming and thanking, the "newbies" to the Club in 2025 - Fiona Williams - Richard Pritchard - Simon Williams and Ian Hughes. And also thanking Barry Harris - Andy Roberts and Dave Jones for helping out when the team were short. Also Olga Evison who who enjoyed playing more regularly this season for the team.
Like I said, not the most successful of seasons, but as a spectator at most games an enjoyable one all the same, with the team building a strong bond of commeraderie as the season progressed.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT LEAGUE
CAPTAIN - Tim Williams.
The Beaumaris Bowling Clubs "team of the season". Dubbed by myself as the "Dream Team", they didn't disappoint, with them achieving the 2024 - 2025 "Double Double".
In the League, the team finished in Top Spot
Played 16 - winning 13 - losing 3 - 121 points and + 729 on the combined aggregate.
The best player for the Club and League being Barry Harris - played 16 - winning 14 - losing 2 and +158 on the combined aggregate.
With Adam Harris 3rd and Dave Ll Jones 6th, in the 10 Ten of the Aggregates Table.
In the Wednesday Night Festival Cup Competition, the team after beating Bethesda in the Quarter Finals - Benllech in the Semi Finsls, they won the Final at the Caernarfon Bowling Club, by beating Criccieth 5/3.
So well done to all involved with the team and hopefully in 2026 the team can do the "Triple Triple".
SUPER LEAGUE
CAPTAIN - Barry Harris
With Llanrwst not fulfilling their last two fixtures, the team finished in 2nd position. Played 14 - winning 9 and losing 4 and drawing 1.
The best player for both the Club and in the League was John Short.
John winning all the 14 matches he played in, extending his winning run to 43 matches on the bounce.
The team sadly this season, missed the playing services of Geraint Booth and Ryan Short, but were grateful to Simon Jones and Andy Roberts for stepping in to support the team.
IAN LAWLEY SUPER LEAGUE CUP.
Sadly after finishing in 3rd spot in the Group Stage, the team did not progress to the Semi Finals.
N.W. COAST LEAGUE
CAPTAIN - Adam Harris.
The team finished in a credible 5th spot. Playing 20 matches - winning 11 - losing 8 and drawing 1 on 117 points and - 103 points on the overall aggregate.
Although the teams away form was disappointing, their home form was brilliant, winning 9 of their home matches
The best player being Adam Harris - played 19 - won 14 and losing 5 matches. Adam finishing in 12th spot in the Division 1 Aggregates Table.
The team, this season, welcomed back Hefin Jones and Allen Parry and of course welcomed the services of "newbie" Simon Jones.
The highlights of the season for me personally, were Barry Wards win against Nicki Jones at Beaumaris and Geraint Owens win against Steve Dace at St Asaph, which helped to team win 3 unexpected points on both occasions.
Captain Adam used 16 players and am sure was grateful to Llew Griffiths - Geraint Williams - Dave Jones - Peter Evison - Charlie Brimecombe and Arfon Jones for stepping into the team when he was short of players.
GWYNEDD VETERANS LEAGUE
CAPTAIN - Barry Ward.
The team finished in 5th position - played 22 games - winning 11 and losing 11 ending up on 98 points.
The best singles player being Gwyn Thomas, who played 20 matches, winning 13 and losing 7 - +38 on the combined aggregate.
In the Pairs, the best pair were Charlie Brimecombe and Richard Pritchard who played 7 matches together, winning 4 and losing 3. But they were the only pair to beat the Veterans Pairs Champions - Chris and Di Slater.
SIONAL GWYNEDD VETERANS CUP
After beating Llanfair PG Veterans in the Quarter Finals 153 - 115, the team went through to play in the Finals Day Competition at the Llanfairfechan Bowling Club.
In the Semi Finals they beat:
Benllech - 153/128.
But lost in the Final to:
Craig y Don 140/144.
So overall a good season for the Veterans, led for the first time by Barry Ward. Am sure Barry will join with me in thanking the "newbies" Fiona Williams and Richard Pritchard, as well as Gwyn Thomas and David Graves, who played through the last few matches suffering from severe knee pain. Also Olga Evison who as in the Monday Night League enjoyed playing more games for the team.

SPECIAL THANKS.
My thanks go to Tim Williams on setting up the Beaumaris Bonus Ball Fund Raising scheme, which brings the Club much needed revenue each month. And my thanks of course to all the Club Members, relations and friends who donate £5 each month.
My thanks again go to Tim Williams for his dedication in running the Saturday Home Game Raffle, which again brought in much needed revenue for the Club.
My thanks go to our Treasurer Keith Bailey, for all the hard work he has done for the Club this past year.
My thanks go to Alan Caughter and Peter Evison for representing the Club, in their negotiations with the Beaumaris Town Council in relation to the renovation or hopefully the construction of a new Pavilion - Clubhouse at Happy Valley
My thanks go to the 5 Captains who have ensured this season, that none of our teams, turned up short of players.
My thanks go to Barry Ward - Tim Williams - Peter Evison - Charlie Brimecombe and Richard Pritchard for giving of their time on the 26th September to help with the renovation of the bowling green
And finally my own personal thanks go to everyone that chauffeured me both to home and away matches, in the various Leagues the Club played in this year.
If I have failed to mention an individual or achievement, I apologise.
THE FUTURE.
The future of the Club, is sadly now in the hands of the Beaumaris Town Council, especially regarding the Pavilion. As we all know the Pavilion is not in the best of conditions, so we await now the decision of the Council, as to whether it is to be re-roofed or demolished and rebuilt in time for the start of the 2026 season. So hopefully Alan Caughter and Peter Evison who have taken on the task of liaising with the Council on the Clubs behalf, can get some concrete answers from the Town Clerk by October
